Hello everyone. Ya my Beretta wont start. when i turn the key to start the battery or amp meter is all the way down. so i get jumped and the car starts and runs fine but when i turn it off it doesnt start again and needs a jump again. is this due to a bad battery or alternator. i bought the car about 2 months ago and the alternator looks new cause it is clean and shiny. the battery is a Everstart extreme from walmart. i am not sure of the year of it but it looks old. if i do have to take the alternator out could someone give me a link to a detailed site or diagram on removal of it.
thank you
thank you

Only way to be sure is to get them both checked at Advance Auto or maybe Autozone. They have a machine that hooks up and puts a test load on them. Both may be bad. A bad alternator will cause your battery to fail and if you are not careful you will lose your starter too. Many will fail with low voltage at startup. Always best to use a battery charger rather than a jump as charging from alternator not good when battery low. Replacing alternator not too tough depending on what you have(year and engine). My son's 94 Beretta (3.1) was so tough I had to have it done at a shop as belt ran through motor mount. Most of the time not a big deal. You can pick up a Haynes manual for 12-15 bucks. It is a good investment if you do not have GM service manuals.
