91 Jetta Clutch

Looked at a 91 Jetta Carat w/ a slipping clutch. Dude wants $2500 for it. How much would a clutch replacement at dealer run me? $600? I'm considering this bug because it has only 95k miles, everything works, it drives nice, and the body is in good shape. Any comments or suggestions welcome.

Probably around $600.00. I wouldn't go to a dealer though. Huge markup. They may tell you they want to do the whole tranny. Just have a transmission place do it.
