I was driving down the road and all of a sudden my truck would not go. I was giving it gas and it was in drive but wouldn't do anything. I put it in 3rd, 2nd, 1st and nothing. I am thinking that my torque convertor has gone out. I have owned this truck 4 months, bought it from a guy who was selling it because his wife wanted to go to nursing school and he needed the money. I have not been stomping the gas upon take off or even getting down on it. I am wondering why this would go out and I not have any warning, other than a clicking noise (no it's not the CV joints). Has any others had this problem? I am a good mechanic and have worked on cars all my life, along with being in the Auto Body Repair Business for 35 years. This really has me stunned. Could it be something as simple as a fuse blown being all this stuff is electrial now days? Any suggestions or comments will be greatly appreciated.

I left a few things out of my last post. I was running 63 MPH and all of a sudden the engine reved up to 4500 RPM and then I lost all pulling power. I am thinking that my torque convertor went out. Any one with suggestions please post!

I had a truck do the same thing. It's more than likely your pump, or something in the valve body, like solenoids or something. I'd check the fluid to see if it smells burnt, or is really dark. Since you haven't had the truck long, the previous owner had probably not kept up on the tranny service intervals, and now it's smoked.

Don't feel bad. I just smoked a fully built 4l60e last week. I've decided to go ahead and upgrade to the 4l80e before I send the motor off for the new internals. I'm not building another 4l60e to go behind the 408, when it can't even handle the power that I'm putting to it now. 4l60e's SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't have any problems with it until the truck started getting into the 11s. Maybe 12s are the limit on the 4l60e in these trucks?!?!
