Possible Supercharger?

I don't know alot about engines but I have read that the smog pump pumps fresh air in the headers to help with pollution. Now I know its possible to take the smog pump off, the previous owner of my vehicle did but left the hose in the headers is that hurting anything or making me lose power? But what i was originally going to say, is it possible to plug the hole on the headers and make some simple contraption to where you pumping all of that air in to the engine but have it pass the filter first. Also is this a cheap way to make a cold air intake does it work "LOOK AT THE PICS"
