everytime i start my 95 GSX when its been sitting for a little (i mean like starting it up the next morning, sometimes even when i get out of school) i get a screeching noise like its a belt slipping. It goes away about 15 seconds later, but i dont know what belt it is and if its important to get fixed. Thank you

Very common, many reasons.
Take it to Mitsu and have them tell you what belt it is, and replace it with OEM. Aftermarket belts are shit.
If this dosn't work, play with the tension of the belt. Don't bother with belt dressing or anything like that, it's a waste of money and it won't help.

May be bearings in your alternator if thats the case then your alternator is about to go out

it might be a harmonic balancer

What kind of belts did you replace them with? Cause cheap belts can cause squealing, you might see a black powder where the belt is slipping that could help determine the source. Take the belts off and see how well the alternator, water pump and power steering pump turn.

I had this problem myself on the 2nd gen. First i checked the power steering belt, which causes this annoying sound and did not work. come to find it was the crankshaft pulley starting to seperate within itself not from actual crankshaft. Went out and got a unorthadox crankshaft pulley and never heard the sound since.
