Ugh... this is going to be alot of typing... Ill try to make it short.
My 99 GT was stolen and vandalized... After fixing half of the damage, the insurance company totaled it so I bought it for salvage value. My Doctor Speed stage 3 cold air intake was stolen along with a few other insignificant things. To get it home, I bought a universal cold air intake from autozone. There are two things that arent plugged in... Im not sure but from looking at electrical connectors from GM, I think one is the IAC sensor. Anyways, my car is shifting hard from P-R, R-D, P-D, and 1-2. 2-3 and 3-4 shift hard occasionally but 95% of the time are smooth. The car always shifted smoothly before so I am going to try installing another Doctorspeed intake to see if it takes care of the problem. It's also idleing goofy. Theres a vacume hose that plugs into the intake manifold on the corner closest to my driver side headlight. The fitting was broken and I replaced it. With it plugged up, the car jumps between 500 and 1000 rpm when Im stopped or in park. If I leave it unplugged, the idle stays at 1100. ...Any suggestions?
I'll try to get a pic of the connectors and post them...

there are several hoses that could be disconnected that will make it idle funky. Check the hoses behind the coil packs, under it really, down by the plugwires. One should hav a red cap/clip and the others just black. there are two things on the CAI the air temp sensor and the mass air flow (MAF) both if not attached will cause the engine to surge up & down.
You are lucky the car ran at all, even luckier to get it back, most end up scrap'd for parts.
