Sea Foam

My ford escort zx2 is sputtering right now and the check engine light came on but when I got the diagnostic done but the code just says its misfiring. I was told about sea foam and have been looking it up on the computer but I just want to know how do I apply it to my car? I heard it works good cleans everything out all of the gunk and about 500miles after you need an oil change has anybody used this before and if so can somebody e-mail me the process thanks.

ive heared about it is mostly used on just old ass v8's it shouldnt not have to be used on a zx2 that at most is 8yrs old. I would look into other possible problems,

Never heard of 'Sea Foam' but your problem is electrical, compression or fuel. "Gunk" in a car shouldn't make it misfire. Don't buy any of this snake oil! My favorite is "Liquid Overhaul". A new engine in a can! :grinno:

Sea Foam is far from snake oil- it is indeed an excellent product for older engines with some wear on them. Especially pre-emissions control engines which are all carboned up, or for most two stroke motors. I use it in my outboard motors- it is a wonderful product. Carbon deposits in the combustion chamber tend to stay really hot & can cause pre-ignition. And when rings get carboned up they stick and you lose compression.

But I too doubt that it will help your situation unless you have run it way to rich way too long, in which case your catalytic converter might be unhappy as well. This is unlikely. When was the last time your spark plugs & spark plug wires were replaced? And rotor/distributor cap if your car has them. Start basic, then go from there.

Had a co-worker with a stumbling van and Sea foam helped it. Put it in your fuel tank first. It won't hurt to clean your fuel injectors anyway. Just follow the directions on the can.
