60K tuneup

Hey everyone. I'm new to this site, and I was hoping you all could help me. I read through a few posts and couldn't seem to find the answer I was looking for, so here goes.
I have a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant ES, and it just hit 60K miles. I know that theoretically, the stuff that needs to get done for the car at that point should be in the manual, but it's not--I searched it all over. What's been mentioned to me is oil (but I *just* got that changed 200 miles ago so I'm okay for now), transmission, and plugs.
What else do I need? And what exactly would I need to do with the transmission? Just change the fluid or evacuate it? It also now appears that the 30K tuneup wasn't ever done (beware if you're not a car person and you buy a used car!!), so is there anything else that needs doing?
Any input would be appreciated! Thanks!

I own a 99 Galant ES and according to the mitisbishi you need to have the timing belt changed because if this goes you will lose your engine. since they have to tae off the water pump in the process it is a good idea to have it changed also.
or so I am told.
