Vibration in 2nd gear ??

I just bought my first Wrangler after wanting one for 10+ years. I got the 2005 Wrangler X with the in line 6 and 6 speed manual transmission. I love the jeep, but have an odd vibration in second gear between 1800 and 2100 rpm. I can only feel it on a smooth street because it is not very evident. Anyone have any ideas? The dealer test drove it and didn't feel it. I'll take it back and drive it with him, but would like some ideas on what it is. I also have a lot of tire noise starting at 40mph, but this may be normal, not really sure. Thanks

Vibration under acceleration, deceleration, or shifting? If it's really slight it may just be new vehicle tightness. I had a similar vibration in one of my new vehicles, which mellowed out in time. Dealer couldn't feel it for me either.

What kind of tires are on the Jeep? If they're larger or have aggressive tread, you could get some noise @ 40mph....make sure that they're properly inflated, and note if there's any pulling to one side under braking; you shouldn't have an alignment problem on a brand new vehicle (unless someone hit a curb or something).

OH yeah, and congrats on the new Wrangler. Enjoy! I waited a long long time for mine, too.

Thanks for the info. The vibration is on acceleration, shortly after shifting into 2nd. It is more noticeable when I accelerate harder and as I said between 1800 and 2000 rpm (particularly noticeable on a nice smooth road).

I have 760 miles now, so I'll give it a few more weeks to see if it gets better. There is no pulling to the side, and I haven't let my boys drive it yet so nobody has hit the curb!!!!

The tires are Goodyear Wranglers, not to aggressive tread, but I'll double check the pressure.

Again, thanks for the info. I am having a lot of fun with it.

Definitely enjoy! With mine, the dealer didn't recognize it; I guess as new vehicle owners you're more sensitive to anything "not perfect"...hopefully it will loosen up over time.
