1998 Electical/Horn Issue

I've seen similar posts to this but none in quite the same ballpark...

The problem starts when locking the car, it does not beep to signify the lock, as usual. The car does lock, though. Then, for the next few trips with the car, it will suddenly beep three times quickly. This happens at all times: while in motion, while parked and it happens many times. Also, after turning the car off (again it does not beep to signify a lock) and walking away, the car will again beep three times quickly.

I suspect the alarm system of course, but I suppose (as always) the electrical issue could be anywhere.

It's a 1998 GLS Jetta. Anyone have any ideas/experience?

Thanks
