Ok, driving down the road and radio shut off, cruise kicked off. Did this twice in about 30 miles, didn't think anything of it. About 15 miles after that running along fine at about 75 mph the truck died. No power to anything. The only things that work are the dome and glove box lights. Turn tkey and nothing no accessories no dash lights. Fuses are all good. The truck is on the side of the road about 50 miles away so I need to have an idea what to look for and what to take as far as tools. Anybody?

What year is the truck? I had a problem awhile back with my '98 similar to this. The problem was that the battery had side posts and some corrosion got between the cable screw and the post and wasn't making good contact on the negative side. I went to a shop and talked to them and they said it was very common on my model. Try banging on it for a quick fix or cleaning it to see if that works. However, since you have some lights that work, it may not be it, but it is a quick and easy test. Good luck!

Could very well be a bad connection at the battery.
You don't need much power to run the dome lights, so a bad conn would still run them.
Good luck with it man.

check all your grounds on the engine does it start fine when it actually starts? Check your ignition switch, without power their it will not light up any gauges, i had this prob, took me a week to figure out. Have you checked the battery to make sure it has juice? You might try bumping it over at the starter, most likely in the ignition.

Trailered the thing home. 5 minutes with multimeter. Bad fusible link on one of the main power wires due to the wire hanging loose and wearing off insulation. Thanks to all for suggestions. Can't wait for the next problem.
