Plug wires

Okay, so I replaced my spark plugs and wires in a 94 Buick LeSabre, I went with a cheaper O'Reilly store brand. They also had ACDelco's but based on what the employees told me there really isn't too much difference between the two. The O'Reilly's meet O.E. Specs actually they exceed them from what they say. But should I go get a better brand or just let it go?

Next time an auto parts person tells you that their brand is as good as AC Delco brand, ask them how many years of automotive shop experience they have. (Most of them have never worked on a car) Also ask them for a multimeter, to check resistance on both brands per foot of wire. Compare the competition like MSD or Taylor and you will be surprised. Buicks are sensitive to poor quality wires due to the high voltage of the coils and the close proximity of the wires on the coils. Autolite is the only good alternative to AC Delco that I know of and of course if you want to upgrade from both of those brands, consider MSD or Taylor.

Thanks for the advice, I ordered a set of AC Delco O.E. plug wires for my car from RockAuto. Much cheaper than getting them from O'Reilly, but I was of course desperate to run my car again. But most likely the plug wires will be here tomorrow, just like the new spark plugs I got. Quick question about a different subject on the same car. I want to replace the muffler, but I'm most likely going to have to use a universal fit because I want better gas mileage and I really don't want an OEM muffler. I've done research into a good brand and I found that I love the way Magnaflows work. Problem is I have no idea what size I need. I know that I need the oval shaped muffler and I'm pretty sure that I can get a center/center muffler. I just have no idea if it's 2", 2.25" or 2.5". Have any ideas?

Oh yes, I also found a direct fit cat convertor from Magnaflow for it as well. So that said, which would be better to replace first? The cat convertor or the muffler?

I've seen that before, it doesn't tell you how large the exhaust inlet/outlet are, it just tells you how to install the muffler. But I had another question. What do you think of the Autolite XPs I put those into my Buick to replace the old Delcos. I figure that since it's O.E. style it should have the same heat range and use less power and create a bigger spark. So as always help is always appreciated.

You will find quite a few GM professionals on this site and I beleive they will all agree that AC Delco parts are best for all GM motors,the proof is in their experience.

:iagree: Having sold AND installed plugs and wires on GM vehicles in the past, I can say that practically all of my customers experienced no driveability problems with OEM components. GM spends millions of dollars in research to make sure their parts perform to their standards. I've lost count over the years on the number of people who bought aftermarket plugs and wires, only to return with various problems, ( hard starting, poor engine performance, lower gas mileage etc,) Most of these problems disappeared when OEM parts were reinstalled. Remember the old GM slogan, "Keep your GM car all GM!"
