so i'm setting up my "urban assualt vehicle".
i currently have a cb radio ( http://www.uniden.com/productpop/00_productpop.cfm?prd_code=PRO538W ), a uniden police scanner ( http://www.uniden.com/productpop/00_productpop.cfm?prd_code=BC350C ) and a light switch ( http://www.galls.com/style.html?assort=general_catalog&style=SE041&cat=2664 ) --the light swtich will opperate the roof rack lights, side lights and front running lights
So...where do i mount them? i've seen an overhead console that fits other vehicles, but not ours. (the kind that fastens using the sun shade holes.) do any of the other trucks have overhead pods that would work?
on the dash--maybe with a special fabricated console (lot's of work, but i can fiberglass). not much other room. i still have the factory radio with cd changer installed--but i noticed if i replace with aftermarket--i can use the space underneath for the cb. the little "pocket" on the center console-- next to the cig lighter and aux power socket-- might work for the scanner, but i would have to cut--and the clearance behind it might not work.
i'm pretty handy with fiberglass and can make speaker pods, sub boxes, etc. so i could make dash pods that might work--but would be in line sight of the windows for theft.
any ideas?

First question...what year rodeo?
How about a pic?
The 2002 Rodeo's have a third DIN space hidden behind the
stereo trim bezel. If you don't smoke/ use ashtray you can
mount a third DIN device in there. That said there is even
more space below that but it is not as deep as a DIN device.
So a 2002 has about 3 1/2 DIN spaces in the dash, with only
2 spaces visible and accessible without modification.
For earlier generation Rodeo's.....dunno.
Goodluck,

I think I heard somewhere that it's illegal to have a police scanner in your car. You might want to check that out.

It depends on what state you live in. Here in NY, it is illeagal unless you have a ham radio license.
