Hi,
Been years since I changed plugs in a car, looked at my son's escort to pull plugs for a look, (120,000 miles), and couldn't get wires off the plugs, didn't want to force the issue. Is there some trick to getting the wires off the plugs, and what size plug wrench works with these?
Also, what is the proper gapping on these plugs? do they come pregapped?

Thanks.

The plugs will probably be pre gapped but check anyway. The gap setting will be on a white tag under the hood. Probably under the hood itself or maybe near the radiator.

To get the plug wires off you can get a special tool from the parts place. I think it's called 'plug wire pliars'. My advice though would be to rip the old ones off and replace them. The plug socket is probably a 5/8ths inch.

While you're at it maybe change the fuel filter too.

get good quality wires and use that silicone to prevent the pllug wires sticking again later. Also I put a dab of anti sieze on them.

thanks, I appreciate the help. I'll get those plug pliers anyway, and use them to start at least. I'll for sure be replacing them along with the plugs, will use some anti sieze also.

thanks again to both you guys for your responses.
