2 questions

Im going to keep the car. it hasnt done me wrong so far so ill give it a break. However there are things i need to fix.


1) One of the lug studs on my rear passenger wheel is cross threaded. I would like to replace it but i have no clue how to do it. if someone knows or can point me to a place that can tell me how to do it i would appreciate it.

2) also if anyone can tell me how to remove the front and rear bumpers, i need to paint them.

that cross threaded wheel stud can probably be fixed by any tire shop for $10. It will probably take about 5 minutes to fix. They should have a tap and die set for this. I would recommend having the dealer do it because it may be a pain in the ass for ya. The threads are kind of large and it will take some motivation (and the right tools) to get them back in place.

You can get cheap tap and die sets ($20-$40)from Harbor Freight, but they may not be strong enough to do the job and the tool may not be able to get in there. You almost need a die on the end of a socket to do the job.

If not, you double nut (if you can? -turn two nuts together to lock) the bad stud it should turn out (not sure if this is possible for Intrigue) and then you can insert a new stud while applying some thread locker to it to keep it in.

you should replace the stud - they are a press fit into the hub and have to go in from behind - sometimes you can knock the old one out with a hammer and pull the new one into position with the wheel nut. or you could replace the hub/bearing assembly too - a little more pricey,though

you can replace them by knocking them out but you may need to cut it a little shorter so it will pass the hub. as for replacing it, you can purchase a shorter stud (only like 2mm shorter) that will pass the hub and then use the lug mut and some washers to pull it tight and flush before reinstalling the tire.
