What's up everyone? Would any of you happen to know the exact location of the port for the OBD scanner? My "Service Engine Soon" light is on and I don't want to pay the $80 to have it checked. My friend has a scanner. I think the port is somewhere in the steering column. Is this true and is it easy to get to? If so, how exactly? Thanks.

Oh yeah. 99 Galant ES 4 cylinder. 82K miles

In the UK the port is under the dash behind the wheel. Seeing as your side of the pond you have the wheel on the wrong side I don't know if that description still fits!

Thanks. that's funny. I beleive most of us feel the same way about the side of the car and street you guys drive on.

Now can you elaborate on the "under the dash" part? Does anything need to be removed to get to it?

If I stick my head into the drivers footwell and then look up, I can see the port near the center of the car about level with the stereo. Nothing needs to be removed.

Good mann. what's even funnier is that the light went off on Saturday. It had been on for about 5 weeks. We'll see if it comes back. thanks for your help.
Is that a Galant wagon? I've never seen one of those.

Yep. In Japan they are called the Legnum. In the UK Galant estates. Mine is a Japanese spec - 2.5l V6 with twin turbos. 280bhp standard, and mine isn't any more! I hit 60 in 5 seconds and have done a 13.8 1/4. Not bad for a family estate car with full leather interior!!

Very nice. Mine would probably do 60 in 60 seconds. that's a joke, but i have done nothing to my car. I originally wanted a used Diamante back in 99 but the payment was too much. So I got a brand new Galant. My 3rd galant at that, 86,95,99. I don't know what's next. Maybe a Charger? No time soon though.

I have the reader which works for my Ford Ranger but the connector is different in the Galant. Is there an adapter or do I need a different reader for the Galant. My light just went on at 53,000mi. Does it come on at 60,000.
thx.
