Old old news. But soo dumb. O well. Wheres the godam plastic WRX kits!?!
When talking w/their rep (Ed Sexton) at the IPMS Nat's in July, he told me the CRX was cancelled before tooling and that they're scaling way back from the tuner scene, sales dropped off a lot and he's afraid they watered the market down w/too many sketchy reissues that weren't as good as the kits specifically tooled as tuners. Bling is the new Tuner, in modelspeak, at least when it comes to satisfying what Wal Mart tells them what to produce. The '05 RSX Type S kit coming isn't being pushed so hard as a tuner, but I'm sure it will have tuner parts.
No clue about the WRX, but I suspect they didn't think it was worth tooling up at this time. By the time they can do it in plastic, there's going to be an all-new Impreza. I am surprised they didn't announce an STi diecast kit, because the basic model is obviously designed to have an STi version.

Is there anyone who really think that such an old subject like CRX would sell? Or even the RSX for that matter? I mean the real Integra / RSX isn't a hot selling car any more, and the current generation is already 4 years old. Since a new Civic, which shares the chassis with the Integra, has just come out, when Revell releases a DC5 kit, we might be seeing a new Integra / RSX, or even the car might be discontinued due to low sales volume of this segment overall.
It strikes me odd when I see this kind of lagged marketing practice. It's probably not much of an issue when it comes to vintage like 50s and 60s, but I think timing is extremely important for modern subjects.

I'm a CRX lover myself, but in fact, why should Revell build one if Fujimi has at least half-a-dozen CRXs and DelSols?
Ok, the quality isn't great and they are not always available, but HLJ offers them periodically...
Maybe I'm just out of the original context of the discussion, if so, sorry...
just another old Honda
I know some guys that could kill you just for this :uhoh: ;)

What, and you'd not be mad if I said, gee, the Z-tune is another old Skyline? :grinno:
Nevertheless, I agree that a Revell CRX is unnecessary. I'd bet your bottom dollar that it would just the same engine parts tree as the Civics and the Integra, and there would be funny errors on the body and interior like the Civics, and it would inexplicably be 1:25. I'd rather stick with the Fujimi kit and frankenstein it if I have to have one with a motor. The engine from the old Tamiya Prelude XX would look perfect in there for a stock motor and there isn't a Honda person on the board without a couple of the B blocks in their spares box if they wanted that in there. No big loss.

Well, Aside From The Five CRX SI's I've Owned!
I Wanted The Wings West Body Kit That Would Come In The Revell Kit,
Plus It Might Have Door Panels That Look Something Like The Real Ones!(Fujimi's SUCK)
That Way I Could Build My '91 SI In Scale!

youd think we'd have a Silvia/240SX by now from them. which would mean SR20DET engine detail.
