Drive Train Warranty

I own a Grand Prix and a Bonneville. I have Bonneville question, but I trust you guys here on the GP Board! How long does a 2000 Bonneville's drive train warranty last? I know my '98 GP GT book says 8 years for the GP, but what about the 2000 Bonneville? Is it also 8 years? Our daughter drives the Bonneville, and it is making noises. Hubby said it might be the "drive train".

A call to your dealer would be the best way to find out for sure.
But I dought if it is anywhere close to 8 years.
Did you by any extended warranty on it?
Sometimes extended warranty runs/covers a lot longer than the factory powertrain warranty.

I agree with MT-2500. The Bonneville and the Grand Prix warranty are similar. The 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first, portion of the GM warranty covers only the CAT convertor and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). It's an emissions control systems warranty.

The initial warranty is called a bumper to bumper which was 3 years or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. That covered everything to include drive train and tires. So unless you purchased an extended warranty above and beyond the initial bumper to bumper there is no longer any warranty remaining.

However, if you have extended warranty you have to review the terms of the agreement to see if the problem you are having will be covered or contact the company underwriting the coverage.

this is why I just eat the extra $1400 when purchasing a car and get the extended, 75k mile warranty...

Worth it if you ever need it...

bnaylor3400 is correct. GM bumper to bumper warranty is 3 years 36000 miles...this includes "drive train"
There are some extensions...8 years, 80000 miles on PCM and converter.
Unless you purchased an extended warranty, you probally don't have any warranty coverages left.
What type of noises do you hear and where do you hear them..maybe we could help.
