Cant get PCV valve out of 01

Having a hard time removing PCV valve maybe Im in the wrong place. It appears to be on drivers side of valve cover near the front. If thats it does it screw out or pull out >I dont want to break it off but if it screws out its not turning very easily. If this IT whats the best way to clean it or should I just replace it?

If it's got a BIG hex nut at it's base, it threads out. I use a big crescent wrench to remove and clean the PCV valve on my 2002.
