SE and GT front end differences

I just recently got a 1997 Grand Prix SE with 3800 engine. I am confused about the front ends on Grand Prixs. I see some with the grill between the headlights and some with the grill under the lights. Is that a difference between the GT and the SE? It looks like the GT has the grill between the lights and the SE has it under the lights. I have tried to research this on google and this site but I can't find anything.

GTP and most GT's will have the 4 grill bumpers, while most se's and some gt's have the "anteater" bumper.
They are a direct swap and many SE owners have swapped out the anteater for a GTP bumper.
My sig pic shows the 4 grill bumper

The front facia is different due to the GT and GTP having the ground effects that the SE doesn't. The grill down low looked kittywompus with the ground effects, so GM moved the grill up between the headlights. The newer SE's also have the grill between the headlights, just no ground effects.

Do you know if there will be any problems with putting the GT GTP one on a SE?

Hi I am new here however my knowledge if Grand Prixs is quite a bit. There is no differance between the gtp and gt front end. GM came up with this and it is know as a "GT style package". Now not only is it your front bumper but you also do not have side skirts nor the rear bumper. Granted if you put on a GT front end it is going to look alot better. However anyone that knows a GP is going to notice the differance. I would suggest looking for a full kit and doing all of them and you would never notice the differance. As for swaping them there will be no "problems" accept for a rusty bolt or two. + the rear bumper cover has openings for dual exhaust and the se that you have only has 1
Hope this helps

Ok well I guess really what I want to know if the GT/GTP version of the bumper would look bad or hideous on a SE. The car will not be mine because i'm going to give it away to my soon to have license cousin. I don't want him to be driving around a bad looking front end car:banghead:. I did notice when I was looking for this car that some of the 1998 SE cars had the newer looking front end, and some that didn't. So I am actually getting pretty confused here:popcorn:

In my opinion, it would make the car look alot better just by swapping the front bumper cover. If you can get the whole package would look even better.
