Sideway free play in steering column

Hi Guys, I am here again with a yet another problem.
This time is (I hope) not as serious as the last one, that forced me to have the trans rebuild.
My steering wheel (the whole unit, including the column) developed a small sideways free, left to right movement. (Not up and down).
I suspect the clamp/bracket that tightens the column under dash. I looked under and can not figure out how to remove the plastic cover. There are no visible screws or latches.
Is this frequent problem with Buick Centuries (2000) ?
Should I just forget about it and get used to it?
The car now has 58.000 kilometers on the clock. Never before, with my other cars I encountered such problems that should not come up with such low milage car.
Other than that, no complains.
Hope that our technicians here can give me an advice on the free play in steering column.
