Is it difficult to replace a '93 Metro Engine?

Is it difficult to replace a 3 cylinder, 1 L. Geo Metro engine in a
'93 Metro?

It can't weigh very much.... Lots of room in there... Rather small...

Could I do it myself? 63 years old, normal set of tools, no special
tools, a reasonable knowledge of engines (I do my own oil, plugs,
filters, belts, tires, etc).

I know - the "etc" can mean anything!

Is not hard I will do it in my 93 Geo this spring, you will need do a set of helping hands and an engine hoist witch you can rent from the auto parts store, just make sure you will remember the place of the things you will disconect.

I pulled my engine by hand. It only weighs about 130lbs fully dressed. I pulled the alt and a/c pump, then I grabed one side and my friend grabed the other and we yanked it out. He then took the new engine and stabed it on his own and I started a couple of bellhousing bolts. I know this is not the recomended way of doing it but the cherry picker was down at my dads house and we did not want to drive down there and deal with that. The picker weighs more than the 3 banger anyway. The only problem I had was the rear mount was a pain. It was an auto.

I forgot to mention, when you get it in and start hooking up the exaust, make sure your helper/freind is not yaking on the phone and pouring oil in the engine. Mobil 5w-30 has an awful taste to it ;).

if you have a automatic you can pull the engine by itself but if you have a 5 speed its better to pull engine and tranny. a set of standard sockets and wrenches will get the job done except for the axle nuts. they take a large socket. before you pull them out of the tranny be sure to drain it or you will have a mess. i have got the swap time down to under 5 hours but i have a engine hoist and a car lift, that makes life a lot easier

Dr. Bill,
Crvett really knows his stuff. I personally have pulled the 3 banger by hand by myself, (its hard on the back) It isn't really heavy just awkward. How worn at 63? I am 40 but at 6' and 200 lbs it wasn't that bad!
