84 S-10 connected battery terms. wrong

i connected the battery cables on the wrong terminals and i was wondering what the worst damage that could do? before that the truck acted like it wanted to start but just made the clicking noise like the battery was dead but could never get it to turn over, also the dash lights worked before i made this stupid mistake, i just need someone to tell me what to fix first please! thanks

hey brian,
just real quick prior to heading to work:
if you hooked up the charging posts backwards, it could be something as simple as a fuse or ignition relay, to the battery and/or starter.
so, I guess from best to worst being $5.-100.
naturally start with the fuse box, then SWAP (do not buy relays, you can do this later) relays (like pull the A/C and put in ignition place, if the same, to test) and once this is done, you will either have a running truck, or may be pulling the battery or starter.
since the headlights still work, probably haven't burned out any fusible links.
