Too high RPM

Hi,
I have been experiencing too high RPM at about 2100 at idling (Parking). When I switch off the engine and start again it gets back to normal (1000 RPM). But again as I drive a few miles, the RPM leeps increasing back to 2100. It also gives a jerk and a rattling sound when I shift gears from Drive to Reverse or vice cersa.
This is a 94 Daimante, and was working pretty good until for the last few days I noticed this hapopening. Is this a major problem> Any idea why this is happening?
