please someone help me... I bought a 95 talon with a 420a non turbo, and I would like to buy a new engine. The best results so far have been the 4g63. I would like to know what the difference is and if I did buy it, would the motor mounts line up. And I also heard something about a new tranny having to go in and what kind would I get... thanks

What engine can I swap into my GS/RS ? - ashah000
The only engine that can be directly swaped is the one that is in there right now (the 420a).
You can swap a GS-T engine into the car but it would be extremely difficult and costly.
Here are the costs (from 2gnt)
1. 4G63 turbo engine (stock) $1500
2. transmission (stock GS-T FWD) $500
3. wiring harness for engine $300
4. 4G63 ECU (stock) $300
5. shift linkage $200
6. custom engine mounts $200
7. chassis cross member $100
8. complete exhaust $200
9. intercooler, turbo, related parts $500
10. boost gauge/fuel filter, etc $300
11. Installation $1500
Total - $5600
You can also swap in a 2.4L from a Dodge Stratus/PT cruiser. This is easier than the GS-T swap, however it does require some custom faberication. Also it would be backwards (the header would be on the firewall side)
Next time, please do a search - http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=442393
My opinion, don't do it unless you have assloads of money and time.

from what ive read youd be better off selling that car and buying one with a 4g63 allready in it. basically the 420a is a non-turbo and a 4g63 has a trubo. there's more differences than that but thats the main one, and yea you'd have to get a new tranny too, so unless money is no object id sell what you have and look for a turbo cuz i think the last estimated price i saw for the swap your talking about was like $5,500.
edit: yea he posted that right as i posted mine so lol, yea what he said.

Yeah, the swap alone would cost more than buying a GST. I would just sell your NT and buy a turboDSM.
EDIT: Holy shit, 3 posts in 3 minutes.

man i always feel so bad for these guys that dont know that dsm's come in turbo models until after they've bought one, because the first thing they always want after realizing that theres a turbo model is how much it'll cost them to get theres turbocharged... i know it sucks man but it happens to alot of people

No, its beacasue no one reads the rules. respects the peoples time that post answers to questions and are looking for a quick easy answer to a question that can be answerd using a search feature. Call me tempermental, but i get sick of it. Thats why i dont post much.
