Radio only on for 2 sec. & clock resets to 1:00

When I turn on the radio, it turns itself off in one to two seconds and the clock display resets itself to 1:00. The clock works but always resets to 1:00 each time the radio turns itself off. Also the CD started not accepting cd's a couple of months ago - it would just search for the track to read and then eject after about 30 seconds. Any ideas? Any quick fixes?

How old is the radio?
Of course it sounds like a loose connection, but that's an easy diagnosis. The CD problem could be a bad laser. As they age these lasers lose optical power and eventually can't read the CD index so eject it as unreadable.
Quick fix, replace the radio. By the time you yank it out, get it to a shop, even if they can repair an intermittent connection, which is the worst kind, you'll be into the cost of a new radio.
Many folks sell their old radios on EBay when the upgrade to new ones, or try a Junk Yard, my local yard has lots of radios or just go the whole way and upgrade yourself.
Sorry, but there is no cheap, simple fix, even if you get a new one, it will have a life span to. The fancier we make em the quicker they fail.
See ya
