hey i'm new to this forum but by no means new to cars, just new to volkswagens.
anyway i'll cut to the chase
i have a 1987 Golf GL(gas) and my doors are leaking like crazy when it rains. i got the car for free after it has been sitting in my grandma's yard for around 5 years. the weather stripping around the doors is really, really beat. just wondering if anyone knows where i can get new stripping. right now i just used some Black RTV Silicon that was laying around the shop i work at, but that looks like doo-doo(not that the car looks that great anywayhaha, i mean it has been sitting for a while). or if anyone knows of a junkyard that has a lot of volkswagens and may have a car that i can take it off of. i know they have ones for saabs and subarus, etc.
thanks for the help in advance.

The only place I knew had them was the dealership, and they were quite expensive. I'm unsure if they are still available as that was about two years ago. Try a Google search as perhaps someone on the aftermarket is making them.

thanks for the help, i was hoping i wouldn't have to go through the dealership. i've already done google searches, and forum searches, etc. thanks for the help. the good news i suppose is that i am the manager of a performance shop and generally we get parts from dealerships at wholesale so maybe it won't be too bad dealing with them after all.
thanks again for the help. i guess the only other option would be to call around to local junkyards and see if by chance they have one there(problem is the junkyards around here basically only have domestics)
well i'll see how it goes.
thanks very much.
