i think hip hop has maybe realized that the white boys can actually rhyme, i saw someone interviewing Reverend Run and he said for the first time white america has a voice in hip hop, although it is still influenced by the black rappers...but still i love both black rhymers and black...however with Eminem, Paul Wall, Atmosphere, and The Beastie Boys being the first actual successful white rhymers it isn't so hard to go into a downtown minneapolis "thug club" as a white guy...let me know whatcha guys think....later..

WHOA WHITE GUYS CAN RHYME?
Really, now there is a newsflash.
In reality, white boys invented the rhyme quite a while ago. Ever read shakespeare? I'm assuming no.

Paul Wall looks like a wigga.
In any case, with guys like Aesop Rock and Atmosphere around, and Eminem in the mainstream side, who says white guys can't rap?
Doesn't give you an excuse to dress like a tool though.

I love hip-hop/rap but i find eminem to be such a joke. I mean with Dre behind him they make great buisness partners and suceeded in making millions. The way he came out with his first 2 albums as "shocking" and "controversial" and then after he made a name for himself in the media/public he went into his "real shit". Dunno don't really mind dre's production, but eminem's voice just irritates me. Peace-

Dude... Beastie Boys have been around for so fucking long, it's not even right to put them in the same group as Eminem, etc. They are classic.
And don't forget who originally put rap into the media spotlight:

white rappers aren't a new thing, eminem just kinda blew it up bigger than it's ever been, and now Paul Wall's got his ugly mugg on TV all the time too. rappers like jojo pellegrino, Remedy, 3rd Bass, Beasties, insane clown posse( :disappoin ), House of Pain/Everlast, Paul Wall, are all a bunch of white dudes. they're around, some of them have been around for almost a decade.

It's so crazy to see Paul Wall go from freestyling at the lunch table to being all over tv. It's really crazy that he use to look like a prep and now....He's been in the underground here in Houston since around '97 once Screw really took off. Don't count him as a dumbass though, he's quite intelligent. Graduated high school early and I believe went to UH for 3 years until he started making a national name for himself.
My friend called me when he got back from his honeymoon and said they were playing Paul in Jamacia. I thought that's crazy.
Shouldn't this be in the Music Forum?

Paul wasn't overprivileged. He came from a good house hold yes, but was far for privileged. Just b/c someone's white doesn't make them better than anyone else.
Besides he's getting a lot more respect from that mass rap community than a lot of 'black' rappers.

Mike Jones isn't shit. His lyrics are pretty weak in my opinion. Wall's newest cd is good. Check out his other ones as well, and his collabo's with Chamillionaire. While I've read up on their supposed beef that has since been squashed, both say that wish the best for each other but don't plan on doing any more albums or songs together. However, I think they will eventually. They were friends for far too long to not attempt it again.
I forgot to mention about the grills, if it hasn't already been mentioned. He makes grills for pretty much everyone now. Lil Jon, T.I., Bun B, etc etc. Including a few athletes too.

i'm not feelin Wall so much anymore. i got my hands on some of his songs and i realized that all he raps about is "candy paint dripping off his old school impala" and "platinum fronts". all his flows sound like the same shit to me, he got played out real quick IMO. i like chamillionaire though.

i dunno...i like his lyrics...and i've never heard a rapper talk about computers so much...haha....track 8 on his "people champ" album...i forgot what it was called...."i got the internet going nuts" but it actually sounds like he knows what the hell is in computers and how they work...
(on a side note) even though obie trice's album "cheers" didn't do well....i think his next one is going to be badass...he's got too much talent to stay under the radar and not get good record sales...i like him in proof's songs...good shit....and i highly recommend people picking up this album...

I cant believe nobody has mentioned:
- Diabolik (think dance with the devil by immortal technique, he is in the hidden track, rips freestyles new assholes) ,
- Sage Francis, (flow would put these thug premadonnas to shame)
- Vinne Paz aka the verbal hologram, of Jedi Mind Tricks (find me a rawer white voice than his?)
- ILL BILL of Non Phixion, (he actually is ill)
**those white boys are hell better than these wak "thug yo tha shi is tight" white rappers (especially paul wall, he looks like he is being taken up the ass), there rhymes are doper and have better content.

Atmosphere's voice is pretty distinctive.......
and these guys are great i'm sure but since i've never heard of them, i'd say that they aren't a real big threat...i'm not saying i'm the biggest hip hop guru around but i've been listening/watching/researching hip hop for a long time but i've never heard of them....but i'l look around for them.....

I'm not saying because he's white he's better than anyone else. I just think white rappers are funny when they "front" with the angry "fuck society" attitudes just like the OG black rappers from the 80's (except Will Smith, who was the happiest MF I've ever seen). The OG rappers were pissed off because their whole lives they felt they were discriminated against and hassled by cops and forced to live "thug" lives because everyone around them was in a gang or dealing drugs (kill or be killed kind of thing). It was during this era that the term DWB (driving while black) was born because cops were hassling black guys regularly. The murder rate in South Central Los Angeles neighborhoods was astronomical. So they rapped their frustrations out loud.
White guys can rhyme and rap and anything else the industry will pay them to do, but when they come off all angry and bad-ass it just makes me laugh.

Those are underground rappers you mentioned, they're backpackers. Thats a whole different category of hip-hop, you cant compare them to people like Paul Wall. Obviously their lyrics are better, because thats the style of hip-hop they're in. Paul Wall is dirty south music, it aint about the lyrics.
Dont be jealous cause he's doin the damn thang lol

lmao... so you dont think theres ghetto/poor white people? I think you rarely find a grimey american/canadian born "white boy" but I've bin living around alot of gangster white immigrants my whole life. And they have a similar "hood" mentality to black dudes, cause they're poor as fuck and they just want to make money. Especially alot of Albanian guys i know, they sell anything for a dollar, and they aint scared of shit, they come off and are alot more "bad-ass" then alotta black dudes. Not to mention that alot of these white immigrants are worse off than black people, coming to North America looking for the dream with no money in their pockets starting from scratch. Alot of white people live the struggle man
Not to mention all the fukin racism that still exists towards east-european immigrants, that nobody cares about cause we're a non-visible ethnic minority

also Paul Wall is garbage.
