headunit= very reliable and clean sounding. high quality parts like buttons.
amps= very good for sound quality use. bit pricey for high end model though. new monoblocks are suppose to be good.
components= great sounding but also depends on your ears.
sub= sound quality oriented. 2 12" type Rs can reach 140-145dB in the right install, enclosure, vehicle, etc.

i give alpine 5 star out of 5 star. great company. the only downhill about alpine is the price. the subs aren't that pricey, just the headunit and amps. but you know what they say..."you get what you paid for!"

as far as the subs......i'm not lookinf for competition like earth shattering base......i'm in it for sound quality. I was thinking about a type r sub and compnents..with matching amps.

oh and a question about enclosures.......say the optimal area for a sub is 1 cu. ft. which way to you move the area for what type of sound...

the type R will have the sound quality you are looking for. its just that it can get pretty loud while at it. as for the last question..can you edit it? i can't understand you..sorry..:)

I've never bought anything other than the V12 series amps... they're extremely versitle and you can run those things hard for a long time and they just keep going. I love 'em :D

area should be volume ......... he is asking - what are the benefits of increasing or decreasing the size of the enclosure (compared to the recommended size). Increasing the box size will lower lower the Fs of the system and so it will have a little more in lower bass region and require a little less power. Decreasing the volume of the box will do the opposite. Remember not to go to far over or under the recomeneded size for a sealed box - ported boxes (including bandpass) are a little different, the size of the box or chamber(s) determines the size of the the port(s) to be used. So you can't just change one and not the other.

hte recommended volumes (been a while sine geometry) are between .5 and .8 so i take it .65 is optimal since it is in the middle. correct
