1996 P11 Spot light wiring

I bought a 96 P11 - it appears the original factory spots were involved in a minor crunch up before i bought the car and were replaced.

if i hit the spot switch on the dash, the lights dont come on. ive taken them off and tested the bulbs which work fine.

I want to know - does the wiring on a factory installation end up on its own switch below the side view mirror adjustment knobs or are they wired to the main headlights ??

im assuming they're on their own fuse if so does anyone know which one ?

cheers
