Help with ac/heater defrost!!!!!!!!!!!!

When I put my heater control knob to defrost, my ac turns on!!
What is up with that? How can I stop it from comming on? I press the ac button and still doesnt shut off, So I have to put the control knob to defrost and floor vent, which sucks because my feet roast

The A/C is supposed to run in the defrost position, and that is how it works on all (most) modern cars. It works this way because the A/C removes the moisture from the air, which helps to clear condensation from the glass quicker. Also, remember that the temperture control can be adjusted to somewhere in the middle where the air is not too hot or too cold, even with the A/C on.

Thats odd because all my other cars never did that.. It just draws alot of power when on so I just turn the knob to defrost and floor level, and when I try to just put it on defrost mode I can def feel the difference in power loss.
Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Any and every Gm car runs the A/C compressor when the defroster is selected.

There is another benefit to having the A/C compressor running in the cold weather. Typically if you don't run your compressor during the winter it tends to fail sooner from sitting.
