HELP!!! Installing new CD Player

I need your help!!

I just bought a new Sonyy CDX-M630 head unit to go in my EDM Civic 1.6i VT. There is no one who installscar audio in my area, so I thought I would give it a go. Bad Idea.

I managed to remove the stock Panasonic Cassette player. Buy I dont know what to do next!! The Sony unit has far more wires that I need. The white thing that the wires from the car go into came out the back of the stock tape player but doesn't connect into the Sony white thing (don't know name so I will call white thing!)

Do I need to strip wires etc

Can anyone tell me where I can find a detaqiled guide??

he best solution is to buy one of the Wire Harness packages.
They will save you a hell of a lot of time and hastle.
They are only like 5 bucks.

Wire Harness sounds good but I need to install tommorrow and I live in UK

If you know what each wire is for, then all you have to do is match up/splice the wires from your car to your CD Player.

I found this for my car but most have 2 colours for each connection? Which do I use? like the first one says Constant 12V+ Blue/White Which do I use blue or white?!!

Are you sure some of the wires don't have two colours? My bro's Integra had mult-colored wires. Also, you might want to take off the speaker panels, and look what colour the speaker wires are, and then label the wires with a piece of tape. That could eliminate some of the confusion.

When it says something like Blue/White, usually, that means that there should be a blue wire with a white stripe on it...

Get a wiring harness, trust me. Unless you are an automotive electronics expert I wouldn't start messin with your wiring. I sell car audio stuff at Best Buy, and guys come in thinking they can do it themselves, and they come crawling back, if at least for a wiring harness and mounting kit. A wiring harness will make your life SO much easier. It's like plugging in an appliance. You're going to have a bigger headache trying to do the wiring by hand, than if you just shell out the cash for the kit up front. Also, are you going to upgrade your speakers? The factory Honda speakers in 4G civics blow ass.

Hmmm, my factory stereo was an alpine. Iv still got it if anyone wants a real JDM Honda Radio. :D

You really do need a harness adaptor, even if it means no radio while you wait for one. But Im sure there must be a Europe based shop that will be able to sell you one. Get the credit card out and get on the phone, even it means getting one put on a couriour.

When I had my 1st radio put in my car they guy used an adaptor harness then pluged into the plug that come out of my orginal head unit.

He then wired the new head unit's harness up to it.

So I just did the same thing when I wired in my latest head unit.

If you look closely at the factory wires most are actualy marked.
All the speaker wires in my car are certianly labeled, and so are the power wires.

Have a close look at yours as they should be the same.


To find the constant and switched power wires you really need a multimeter or a test light to do it properly. If you dont have one, then go and buy one. There not that expensive and really are an important part of any tool kit.
