Throttle body spacer?

I'm beginning the process of making my 00GT breathe a little better with new exhaust and intake. On a non-s/c 3.8L, is a throttle body spacer something I will also benefit from?

I doubt it. As the upper plenum is air only, adding a spacer won't do much if anything. On a TBI or carbureted engine, spacers increased the overall manifold volume allowing better atomization of the fuel. Since your car is multiport injected, and each cylinder has it's own injector, adding to the plenum volume prior to the additon of fuel has little if no effect.

I agree with Rich. TB spacer serves no real purpose on a NA 3800. On a supercharged 3800, the sole purpose of the spacer is to shield the throttle body from heat generated by the supercharger. The spacer runs about 1" in size and is made out of phenolic type plastic. The spacer helps reduce knock retard by insulating the TB from the SC.
