true there, find a local autocross event done by the scca or any other organization, if you actually do hit something it'll just be a cone, and trust me they dont do shit to the car it should be a sport in its own XD

you guys are so concerned about drifting, you have to first be able to take a propper apex(the line) first. Then you learn the different kind of drift techniques. After that you learn the apex , use your drifting abilites and apply them to the apex, at this point, you just used the 2 techniques you just learned to make you go faster (Propper Apex, and Drifting) :D

or you could just forget about the big vocabulary and just do what you think is right, get sideways, at the track of course ;)

Keep in mind, racing lines change depending on the type and speed of the drift.
Also: ("find a local autocross event done by the scca or any other organization, if you actually do hit something it'll just be a cone" - gigglesnirt) is an exelent idea, safty first. those people who wipe out on public roads give us a bad name.
Mind you, when it snows, you have little choice but to drift!

well yea i just got tons of snow and having a massive crown vic for a daily driver which is rear wheel drive is awsome, but also pisses people off when im sliding everywhere, i do like it a lot more then i like front wheel in snow though, over vs under i like the over a lot more, and yeah even though i said that autocross thing i am a hypocrit but you should still atleast try to get legal practice ;)

Who doesn't drift on the road? I am just talking about highly populated areas, kids running on sidewalks etc.
a little of intersection nonsence is tolerable, but rural roads are where it is at. And we have plenty of rural roads where I live!

Absolute best way to drift, get a go-kart or dune buggy with grip tires on it. Proceed to accelerate until you need to turn then I suggest you turn......OK so your back from the ER already? Anyway as you can see rolling is no fun I've done it a time or two...Now get back in the kart or buggy and learn how to take a corner without rolling it and hopefully keeping it on all fours. Once you can do that start sliding into the corners and snapping back afterwards. When you master this get into your car at an AutoX event or closed road drift run and try it with your car. You can apply some but not all of the things you learned in the buggy in your car obviously the car is going to be different than the buggy but the principle is the same. Or you could just go and drive your car until you get the hang of it and skip the whole buggy thing, that was only in there to persuade you not to try someting that is beyond your abilities. Beleive me if you get into any kind of racing there are going to be accidents and you are going to break alot of stuff but you can avoid some by knowing what your car and you are capable of.

hehe i've had my share of buggy sliding but as i recal it doesn't seem to have helped sliding on asphault at all, first off the steering range is somewhere like 240 degrees so it doesn't give you a good feel of how your going to need to react quickly and steer the wheel well, plus its a buggy you've got too much focused on rolling and sliding takes no skill, if you do want an easy way try the dirt roads, a car that is not powerful enough (the crown vic) is going to work out fine, best would be a big open dirt lot or something plus you can have some fun in doing this stuff ;)
