2000 Grand Am-How do I remove cd player?

Cd player isn't working, have a friend who will repair it, but I must first remove it from the car. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

Hey,
This is actually a very simple operation. You need to pop out the little key placement indicator (round thing around where you put your key). Then you grab a hold of the faceplate by grabbing the bottom trays top side and the front of the faceplate and pull. It will take a little force but is sure to come out. Then you will need to disconnect the Traction Control, Flashers, and Ciggarette Lighter power pieces. After this its as simple as a couple of screws and then disconnecting the wiring harness.
One thing to keep in mind is that when you remove the factory cd player you lose all the tones and buzzers within in the car as these are incorporated within the factory headunit. To regain these features you need to purchase an adapter piece which cost me about 80 bucks. This will bring back all the factory buzzes and what not.
