I'm still trying to figure out a problem with my 3.5 engine, which runs rough, lacks power and puts from the exhaust approximately every 4th or 6th cylinder fire. Again, the engine does have 225,000k on it, and has had numerous repairs with no improvement. A garage has changed the coil pack, plugs, wires, intake gaskets, oxygen sensors and had the compression tested at 150per cylinder, fuel pressure at 45psi. My garage has given me the car back and now I need to start changing parts one by one. The computer is only telling me about an engine misfire. I'm thinking of the timing belt, cam and crank sensor, egr, and maybe pcv valve. Can anyone tell me simply what these parts do so I can narrow down the list of things to do, and are there any other common problems for this engine? My nearest chrysler dealer is an hour away, my car doesn't run good enough to get it there, and I know the cost will be too much.
Thank you
Thank you

Problem solved, it was a new defective coil pack that started it all. It was changed for nothing to begin with.
