I have never heard of a JDM haveing a digit at the end of the engine code. I always thought that it was something like D15B not D15B7 like the USDM engines. Also I was unaware that Honda had a JDM 1.6 single cam engine I thought they ony had 1.5 like the D15B.

Correct, there were only 1.5L sohc models. And for the most part there were only engine codes without numbers after.
(hopefully this will work) http://translate.google.com/translate?sourceid=navclient-menuext&hl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ehonda%2Eco%2Ejp%2FHOT%2FModel Data%2Fcivic%2F92cv%2Dk%2D109a%2Fline%5Fup%2Ehtml

Both you are right.

I should have expaned more on my post.
They did have a 1.6L sohc vtec they called it the ZC *yes they had more then 1 kind of ZC*

But other motors that kept a long code the JDM ones drop the last digit.

I believe the ZC's came in the Integras, but I could very well be wrong. But I knew what you ment Ace.

all these advices is right the jdm have no diget after the last code but to know what is older look the black cover is the oldest it incloce at word VTEC and the newer is the metal ( silver cover) is the new and it include also at VTEC word . this for the 92 to 95 model but for the 96 and above model the silver cover and not incude at vtec word but it is vtec and you can check that by the vtec sensor

I always thought that ZC's were DOHC 1.6 non-vtec. That is the only ZC I know of and yes they were in the 1st gen Teg

There are also SOHC versions (vtec and non-vtec). I did a little more searching and they were also in 1 or 2 '92-'95 4dr models.

To answer the question, the D16z6's Japenese cousin is the D15B. Identical output ratings, but the only difference, besides displacement, is the D15B has a single wire 02 sensor and the Z6 has the 4-wire.
