How do these cars do in winter?

Ok, I have the Camaro listed in my sig. It's my only car, and winter is coming up so I thinking of trading it off. I'm thinking of getting a 3000GT/Stealth because they are pretty much the only FWD/AWD cars that I like. I'm usually American Muscle all the way, but reality has hit me and I know that I'll be sitting at home a lot if it snows much this winter. So, how do these cars do in the snow?
Also, how are they on performance in the lower models? My Camaro has a 3.4L, but it still jumps past most of the other cars on the road.

They handle well in pretty much all conditions. i dont know much about the lower models i have always had a VR4. but i do know this, when winter comes around they performance of the car in horsepower enhances intensively due to the fact that the engine bay is so conjested. and if you do get the VR4 model it will make that v6 carmaro of yours look like nothing.

I've never had any problems in the winter in my SL. As far as performance, the SL blows away your Camaro 3.4L in every category.

I've never driven mine in the snow... but I'll let ya know how it does, I have the base Stealth... with a 3.0L SOHC... and it stands up pretty well, light enough, quick enough... I like it...

gotta know how ot drive with the awd in the snow, otherwise you can loose controll easily. but if you start sliding, just get on the gas a little and it will put you back in controll.

you call american muscle a v6 :p
j/k with ya buddy...
my 3k held up pretty well in the snow, I live in chicago so it snowed a decent amount... It was never in any huge storms or ne thing, but it got me home from school everyday like a champ, I think that if you plan on purchasing one, either model *vr4 or sl or base* will be a good choice. Where do you live btw???

Throttle control and winter tires are the two most important aspects.

yeah, Z-rated tires aren't really good for snow... I'd keep the stock rims and have some good snow tires on them, and on my set of aftermarket, put some high-performance tires on them

Get a good set of tires for your winter driving conditions and give yourself pleanty of time to stop. Its not the "go" the AWD has issues with, its the wide tires on slick roads that make stopping an occasional chore.

yeah, I drove my vr4 all through an NY winter last year. Definantly throttle control is the big issue, paired with wheels and tires. I'll tell you this, you will never have a problem getting stuck (like my Honda always did). However, 18" rims and z-rated summer tires make for some interesting and at times nerve-racking driving. If I were to do it again, I'd swap on some smaller rims and skinnier winter tires and I'm sure it would handle SOO much better. Overall all though, I prefer my mom's subaru impreza for winter driving out of the 3.

i have a base Stealth i have driven the car the last 2 winters on yokohama summer tires and i live in ICELAND! so these cars fair prety well in snow. there is a guy in my street that drives a vine red 3.4 camaro and my cars takes his easaly. now if you have add 60 horsepower to that wich you get with the dohc motor you will have a good chance to take V8 mustangs

94ish+ v8s??? I don't think so man... at least not stock and from a dig... he'd have to have a few supporting mods, be the better of the two drivers, and go from a roll... well I mean technically he could win stock, but it's highly unlikely... unless he's running a shot of n2o...

94-98 Mustangs get beat by DOHC 3s's all the time. They were gutless. Now 99+ V8 Stangs are going to be able to beat DOHC's without an issue.

Yeah, maybe we were like toy cars compared to the DOHC (3000GT) and the V8 (mustangs), but My buddy and I raced (I driving a SOHC, him a 3.8l V6 Mustang)... There was no competition there... I beat him bad...

If your looking for a all season car the VR4/R/T TT would be the way to go- i keep the wheels an tires stock with the factory issued brand/model tires.... the goodyear eagle Z45's amazing traction all season tires... I never had an issue with it and its been nothing but amazing in the 4 seasons, I was on a back road around here in nj an my buddy had a brand new WRX STi an we were doin about 60 in the slushy snowy weather- its not that he had bad tires they were acually better than the ones i had on mine were gettin low on tread real low, an he acually lost it on a minor turn an ended up off the road an tagin a little tree which put a nice 3 inch round dent from the bottom to the roof on his pass. side - i pulled his car out sideways cause he couldnt get back on the road, another thing is - the traction on ice an snow is superb - many times have i been with people an we gettin ready to leave an they end up gettin stuck with there pick ups - an suv's i had to pull my friends dads 99 jeep out the driveway which was on a icey/snow cover small incline driveway - he was like how the f*ck did u get out i got a truck with 4 wheel drive. i was like u want me to give u a hand grab a tow strap an hook it on my drag hook in the back on my frame - he was like aaaah that aint gonna pull this truck out - i was like listen - i promise u that it will my car for 1 wieghts more an has a lower center of gravity, needless to say i pulled him out an he was very very shocked cause it happend with out a struggle or anything.
So ya i would buy one if u can find a high model not beat to hell or for a crazy amound of $ even though most of us would prob. pay a good amount of money if we were to lose our baby an wanted to get another 1.
Good Luck!
