The IAC motor is located on the side of the throttle body and looks like a small electric motor. It may be located on the top of the throttle body depending on the model you have. The IAC controls idle and I doubt that is the problem you are having. It sounds like you are having a fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator problem since the engine will stumble when you ask for more fuel. I would check the fuel pressure to see what it is. You can check it with a fuel pressure guage and you can check it while running. To check it get to about 80Kph and hit the gas if it drops significantly then the fuel pump is probably the issue.

I would follow GTP's advice, and to clarify it for tyger, the "valve and spring thing" that you mentioned is the IAC motor - it's the spindle end that it moves in and out of the cavity. The other thing that you unplugged is your throttle position sensor.
