coolant leak

ok so my car started losing coolant/water rather for the last 2 or 3 weeks. it started out as something that would just gradually decrease. since it was just water in tehre i figured maybe it was evaporating. (i know its a closed system, that should never happen) anyways i dismissed it since it wasnt that big of a deal. now i'm having to fill up my car with water 3 or 4 times a day. I'm a pizza delivery driver and this sucks! i took the water pump off today and replaced that gasket. the pump looked alright. i siliconed the gasket and everything and i waited about 6-7 hours then went to work to deliver pizzas. after teh first delivery i noticed that the water was leaking out just the same. but from where the water is coming from it looks like its the water pump. is it possible that the water pump itself is leaking water out somehow? cause i'm lost on this one. i can try replacing the other gasket to the hose that connects by the water pump, but i doubt that will help.

and if it is the water pump about how much is it to for one?

Is it coming out the weep hole? Water pumps are designed to leak a little from the weep hole when the bearing/seal starts to go. 3-4 times a day seems quite excessive though. A replacement water pump will only set you back $20...significantly less then what you'd go through in coolant in a couple of days.

i bought a new water pump, even though i believe it was just the sealant i put on the gasket. i bought some new sealant(black stuff) i dont remember what it was called. anyways i'm going to let it set for about 12 hours before i run water through the system and check it out. i hope this fixes it. not that its a lot of work, just a hassle on my end.

alright i fixed it. put the new water pump in and everything and its running good. i've actually noticed that it runs cooler than it has ever ran. not dramatically but there is a tad difference in the temp gauge.
