I was gonna replace my fuel filter today or tomorrow and I was wondering if there is anything special I should know before doing so? I'm gonna follow the helms manual I guess. Thanks.

nope..pretty simple... just gotta loosen the small nut on top of the larger nut to relieve the pressure...have a rag around it...that's about it... loosen the cap at the tank too..

fucking figures. I turn a 15 minute job into a 2 day job. Fucking bolts wont come undone off the goddamn filter. I hurt my damn back I was trying so hard. my fucking luck. The damn specs say 9 fucking ft-lbs, I dont understand why they are on so tight. I even sprayed some wd-40 on the shit and it still didnt work. sorry, had to vent.

I feel that dude. I had the same damn problem. Also, the bolts on that bitch are weird! Oddly shaped with threads on each side... WTF is THAT for?!

somewhat is a huge damn understatement. I am a pretty strong kid, and so is my friend that attempted. I'm gonna end up breaking my fuel line trying to get those things off. I'm gonna wd40 it hardcore, I couldnt find another type of solution at walmart to try.

yeah...and it doesnt help that the filter is held on rubber mounts and it twists all over the place :(

I released the pressure and got all the fuel out of the filter and then took it down to my basement and put the filter in a vice. That was finally how I got the line off of the filter that runs from the filter to the rail. They are a pain to get off but I am glad they are on there tight.:)

so you just disconnected the fuel lines? I tried to leave them alone just to minimize fuel spill, but maybe thats the best way

Yeah I tried to keep the spillage to a minimum and get most of the fuel out and into a container and then I tried busting the lines off. The one was rear easy but the one with the service bolt in it was a real pain. That is the one that required the vise.
