I was thinking about doing the civic CAI mod(the polished aluminum intake pipe they sell at like autozone for civics),cuz its only $39.99.Then I will just get a K&n cone filter for it.I was wondering what I could plug the holes on the pipe with?Like small rubber vaccum caps and if so can I get them from Home depot? Also,I was wondering where I could get a pipe to replace the stock rubber tube inbetween the TB and MAF?Maybe I will see if I can order just that piece from Doctor speed. What do you guys think about this for like $70-80 withpipe and filter?

Id save up for a cold air box from doctorspeed, rather than putting together yourself. But for some people they get a sense of accomplishment when they do things themselves. (IE. Me building my own computer.)

Its not like im fabbing my own custom pipe. All I have to do is take out the airbox and replace it with the intake. There is a small piece of metal to cut down in the fender well, but other than that there is really no work to do.I was wondering if anyone who has this mod could compare it to a doctor spped.

The cold air box from Dr speed is a joke. its just a heat sheild, not a FULL box like you might find for hi end cars like BMW and such that sell for 600-800 dollars.

There is a group buy on www.gaownersclub.com for a intake for your year car. might want to check it out. or you can go ahead and do what you planed. aslong as you dont use pvc pipe i have no problem with it.

I know about the intake guy, but I cant contact him cuz my email is all f***** up,and my ga club account cant be activated without getting an email from them, otherwise I would just send him a pm. I always have problems doing things.

I wouldnt say all that much about the cold air box, its still better than a big black stock box... and in terms of CAI/WAI I figured it to be more of a universal air intake... it not being inclosed in a box for only outside air.. getting warm engine air but yet the heat shield would also protect it from warmth... and getting some cold air thru the existing hole where the stock box went thru...

In the long run I plan to try out the cold air box along with the stageIII and compair...

This is a cheap weapon air cold air box

Compared to this (theres not even weather stripping to prevent air from comming over top the sheild when the hood is closed.
