Ive got a 1991 corolla and the trunk won't open. Ive tried with several diffrent keys. Mine my moms and my dads. None of them even turn it. While ealier today it would open with no problems. My Dad thinks that the lock might be bad because it was doing that before. I think it might be weather related possibly. Any ideas

I've got a '91 also and had the same problems.
Try putting WD-40 or some kind of lubricant into the keyhole.
Good luck, my apoligies if it doesn't work for you.

I'm having similar issues with my trunk on my 91 corolla, the key won't always open the trunk for me, it's like it's stuck, then later on, it will work fine. Not sure what to tell you to try, the WD-40 sounds like a good plan to me.

Do you have a release from the inside? or is it completely stuck shut?

That's a very good suggestion ttiiggy. I've had that work for me a time or two on trunk and door locks that are tricky. Also, you might try not putting the key in all the way, and try turning it with the key slightly out from all the way in. You may have keys that are wearing down.

wd 40 will gum up the lock big time. only use graphite. buy it at lock shop or hardware stores.it,s like a black powder. you squeese the tube to shoot some into the key hole. or you can put a little on your key and insert the key several times. as time passes the lock will be easier to turn.

i agree great idea, use the trunk release in the car till it gets working again and if thats not working and it "feels" like it should be go check the lock it need s to be vertical or it wont work horizontal seems to make the release not work

by the way my 91 has never opened with a key since i owned it *except a few times it is defnitly worn out on my car. if your trunk release quits working at least the seats fold down so you can fix it without knocking it out

Hmm your trunk lock screw is hecks probably rusted. Trying jumping up and sitting on the trunk while having the key in the lock and turn it, than get off the trunk and see if that'll unlock it. Maybe pushing down on the trunk will help. I had this problem too, eesch. But fixed anywho.
