ticking sound

Hello everyone. Ive been having a ticking sound coming from under my valve cover, so i assume its from my valves. Its there when i start it up and after i drive for a while it goes away. I'm assuming this is valve tick, and hopefully not something worse. Is this a hard or expensive thing to fix? I probably can't do it myself so I will have to take it to a mechanic. By the way its a 1988 7mgte

It goes away after awhile? Im not to sure but Id go have your valve springs checked. I had something similar and it turned out to be the springs.

Make sure your sparkplug wires are not frayed or exposed. It is possible that the ticking sound is an arcing wire shorted to a ground.
