removing fuel rail

I've never done it before and I have to do it to access my coolant leak. The Haynes is inadequate. I loosened the outside nut at each end. Do I simply pull the end of the fuel line from the rail? Should I replace anything involving the injectors since I'll have them out?

P.S. I didn't view my own topic 220+ times! The window kept opening as with some type of trojan horse virus until I could shut it down and restart the computer.

I got it. I just snipped the rubber fuel lines instead of disconnecting the fuel rail and lifted it all out (final portion of the intake, rail, injectors) at the same time. Found leaking intake manifold gaskets, too.

surferfletch, did you have any kind of symtoms that lead you to believe you had bad IMG's? My 93, still isn't running right and I haven't been able to locate the problem. I have put a vacuum gauge on the intake manifold where the MAP sensor plugs in and I got like 19" of vacuum, leading me to believe that my IMG's were good. Just wondering.

Never had any trouble at all with the way this truck has run for 147K+ miles. This coolant leak is the first problem that has caused me to park the truck for more than a couple of hours (the starter quitting was a minor and expected problem at 147K).

The only time I thought I might have a problem was when my engine held over 2000 rpm at idle as I pulled into a parking lot one day, but restarting it eliminated the problem.
