states have a law that permits the authorities to confiscate your vehicle???

(This is really pissing me off in case you couldn't tell.)

I know PA doesn't, at I've never heard of it if they do... but I can't stand the corruption here (taxes etc). I would personally like to move to Montana, Wyoming or Colorado (Montana's especially attractive with no income tax or speed limits) but have no idea how corrupted they are.

I don't know, I haven't done anything illegal enough to have them steal her away....so get over here so we can find out! haha

In Florida they just recently passed a law that if you get caught street racing then they have the right to confiscate your vehicle. They don't crush it like in cali, they just turn around and sell it at an auction. Happened to one of my friends. They took his car, impounded it.. and get this, he still has to finish making payments on it.

Well they do auction off your car if you dont ever get it out, but ofcourse if you love your baby that much you wont let that happen.

NJ can take it if they pull you over and you can't provide proof of insurance and NY can take it if you get caught DWI in NYC or unpaid parking tickets or parked in a area where it shouldn't be.

Colorado sucks. Your car gets much slower here.

In NH they can take it for drug related offenses, impound it for expired/suspended registration, parking tickets little crap like that.

If they catch u racing, they will confiscate ur car and publically auction it. A friend of mine got his eclipse consfiscated and night before the auction he snuck in the impound lot and tore the sh it out of his car so no one else would get his master piece.

NJ also if you are doign double the speed limit they can arrest you and take your license on the spot and I believe confiscate your car as well

yea, my older brother had/has a friend that has/had a dodge viper gts, and he got nailed 100 over and my brother told me he got charged with attempted suicide.

and yes, suicide is a crime, because the goverment cant / wont get anymore money from you.

I know i'd be like jim, and buy a bomb before the auction starts and throw it in there so no one gets what I got taken from me. It could be my Camaro or my mom's 93 POS F-250. If it's considered my car, im blowing it up!

Like was said before, i think all they can do in florida is take your car if your racing. Which i realy dont think is right but its apparently not up to me. But I would think that by racing they mean for real drag racing on some back road going 150mph betting money and stuff. Either that or racing while weaving around heavy traffic. I would hope they wouldnt take the car if it was just a friendly 0-50 or so jaunt.

racing is defined as any contest of speed, there have been stories of people speeding also getting a ticket for street racing, that doesnt seem legit tho.

But you can get a ticket for racing at ANY speed, if it appears that you and another car are having a contest of acceleration.

i live just outside of reading pa about an hour and a half northwest of philly, my friend john is 18 and is facing a min of 10months becaus he was racing at 80+ on a 25 mph road and rolled his stang down the hill of someones backyard and hit their house. hes elligable to get his license back when hes 21 and his car , not claimed totaled by insurance was confiscated and sold for 3700 and only had 17k miles on it.

btw i have gotten 2 speeding tickets for 53 and 61 on a 25 road , both in my black 98 camaro. plead not guilty to both cop did not show up for the first one and for the second one cop offered to reduce it to a 30 in a 25 .... no points and only a 105 dollar fine ..... so if u get ticketed plead not guilty ull win most likely

Im sure that if you and whoever you're racing only goes up to 40, a cop wont think much of it, and will more than likely just give you an unnecessary acceleration ticket. But who knows, since racing is considered a contest of speed from one point to another.
