Dust Shield

This may be a dumb question but how important are the dust shields that covers the shock? Some of mine are broken into pieces so I was wondering if I should just go ahead and buy and replace those when I'm changing my shocks or just use what I have if they're not too important. Thanks.

Replace them if you can... The dust covers prevent grit (aka dust) from getting into the shiock and wearing them out prematurely (or causing a leak).
If you find it's really expensive to replace then you might as well just wait for the shock to wear out and change the entire thing.

Thanks for the reply 2old. I'm going to be changing my shocks so I'll just go ahead and replace the dust shields too.

yeah bro, you can get universal fit ones at any autoshop for like 5 bucks a piece.
I have none on the Starion but that car rarely sees the road, the 3000GT where replaced cause of how many miles I put on it. its worth the peace of mind.
