99 avnger starting problems....

Hi, I have a 99 avenger es, 2.5 v6. It turns over strong, but doesnt seem to be getting enough fuel to actually start. It eventually does start after about 10 or 15 turn overs. I replaced all the plugs and wires, and put on a new fuel filter, didnt help at all. I also hooked it up to a diagnostic computer thingy, but it kept saying it can not communicate with module?? I can also hear my fuel pump kick in, so im thinking maybe its the fuel relay or automatic shut down (asd). I was wondering if anyone knew the location of the relay, (theres 3 of them, and im not sure wich one it is), and how do i test it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please help...the problem is getting worse every time i try to start it!!

Ok, i called my dealer today, and he says that my car dosent even have a fuel pump relay?!? But i have a haynes manual and it says i do....uggh im so confused, does anybody know if i even have a fuel relay? :disappoin

Just had this problem with my buddies car....it would only start when complety pressing down on the gas pedal. I replaced the throttle position sensor and it cranked right up.

Hi, thanks for responding, but it doesnt help at all to hold down the gas pedal. Beleive it or not, I think it fixed itself....I put some fuel injection cleaner in a few weeks ago, and once that tank of gas ran out and i filled it back up, it seems to be starting just fine.(for now anyways).Thanks again! :lol2:

keep us posted because you shouldn't hear the fuel pump engage.

Hi again, It started doing the same thing again, so i guess the fuel inj. cleaner didnt do anything. I took it to my dealer this morning, and he said i had a bad automatic shutdown relay (asd). so he replaced it for 200 bucks!! But yes the whole time i could hear the fuel pump kick in. So hopefully my problem is fixed.....we'll see:)
