Hit-and-Run took out my bird!!!

This past Saturday night/Sunday morning, some damn kids t-boned my 89 Formula with their p.o.s. Sunfire, bashed the hell out of my pasenger door, spun me into the opposite shoulder, then...they took off!!! Bastards!!! :banghead:

Well, the bird took a nice hit in the door, the passenger window blew into the car on impact, there's some fender damage, but the wheel well didn't collapse into the tire or anything, so at least the car can roll if it won't start. :disappoin

Well, to make a long story short, the front end of the Sunfire was all over the street, and I found the license plate! Yes!
Does anyone know if there is a way to locate info online from the license plate? I found several sites online that you have to pay for, but I know there are public record resources for other things on the web.
Geez, I am so PO'ed that my bird is out of commision, but I am proud that it took a lickin' to the door like that and held up so well because my wife was riding in the passenger seat.
Also, some nice folks in a 4th-gen drove by and let the cops and me know where they saw the Sunfire get ditched and people running away from it. That's the kind of F-body love that I dig so much!!!
So, if anyone knows about an online resourse or something, please let me know. I just want someone to pay for the damages!!!

dude all you have to do is go to the cops and tell them, they can find out whose car it is in like 2 seconds. Then you can hunt them down or let their insurance company do it, and I'm sure they'll have a nice big fine.

Sorry to hear about your bird though. I'm kind of thinkin that if the kids ditched the car and took off, then maybe it was stolen. I mean, if I were to comit a hit and run, then I sure as heck wouldn't ditch my car. That's just asking to get arrested. Hopefully they'll catch who did it though.

Well, the cops did take a report and everything, but of course, they wouldn't tell me who the car belonged to because they probably don't want me knocking on peoples doors myself. I have to follow up with the detective tomorrow. I was just hoping to do a little homework of my own instead of waiting.
The witness in the other T/A told me he saw 3 young guys and a girl getting out of the car, so I'm hoping it was just some stupid kids that ran away cause they were scared. That's why I don't think the car was stolen. That's a lot of people to steal one car.
I'm glad me and the wife were able to walk out of there. I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow. I can't sleep because I keep seeing the accident happen over and over. But, there's nothing like a little late night internet to calm the nerves.
And at least I'm getting a new paint job out of it.

Well, that's awesome to know that the insurance didn't total it. I know how ya feel though. I'd be wanting to hunt those kids down myself if I were you.

dude, i think you should just get "total" and put it to buying a new 'bird? idk.. 3g's are awesome..and i like the shape better..but i want a LT1! lol idk :D just my 2 cents..

Thanks guys. Well the insurance hasn't paid up yet. The cops just told me today that the other party came forward and they had full coverage, so that means I will get compensated. I just don't know how much yet.
Apparently, it was the owner's daughter who had lent the car to some guy who hit me! I had a feeling it was dumb kids.
I am still hoping that their insurance doesn't total it out. If so, I think it's time for a 4th gen. Then again, I still like the 3rd gen look. A 3rd gen Firebird is a dream car for me.
I tried to post some pics of the damage in my Member Gallery, but everytime I hit the upload button the screen refreshes and nothing is in the gallery! If anyone knows how to do this, I'd appreciate some tips.

The gallery has been doing that to me as well. I think it's a glitch that the site admins haven't caught onto yet. Someone should tell them (*caughs* mods *caughs*). Try using www.imageshack.us. It's a free photo hosting website.

oooh. thats good.. lolz glad they got insurance for ya.. yeah, i like the 3rd gen shape better too..but the 4th gens dont rust =-o well..a lot of the parts wont neway, and they're built better IMO... (plus better engines!!) X]
