I need to replace the batteries in my mother-in-law's 1996 Grand Marquis, but don't know how to get the back cover off to access the batteries. Does anybody have instructions on how to accomplish this? Thank you.

Do you have the peanut shape, or the little rectangle shaped remote?
Both kinds, you simply stick a flat screwdriver into the seam on the side and pop it open.

It's the peanut shaped unit. I thought that might be the way to open it, but usually the ones I see either have a screw you remove, or a little slot you can put the screwdriver in to pry the cover off. This remote has neither, so I was wondering if that meant there was another procedure to removing the cover. I didn't want to go ahead and just try to pry the cover off with the screwdriver if there was another way. Thanks for the info!
